(Audacy) Knicks guard Derrick Rose is tying the knot. The veteran Rose popped the question Tuesday night, proposing to his longtime girlfriend Alaina Anderson on the Knicks’ home floor at Madison Square Garden.
Anderson, a fitness and social media influencer with a follower count well into six digits, debuted her massive engagement ring on Instagram on Tuesday. The couple -- who have been an item since at least 2016, according to the New York Post -- share a daughter and a son together. Rose has a second son, Derrick Jr., from a previous relationship.
A three-time NBA All-Star, the 33-year-old Rose first ascended to prominence with Chicago, leading his hometown Bulls to a league-best 62 regular-season wins in 2011 while winning the MVP award. Injuries would derail his Hall-of-Fame trajectory, though Rose has recently experienced a career resurgence, finishing as one of three finalists for Sixth Man of the Year last season.
A career 18.5-point-per-game scorer for the Bulls, Knicks, Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Pistons (he was also traded to the Utah Jazz at one point but never played for them), Rose will begin his 13th NBA season when the Knicks host the Celtics next Wednesday. Rose drew plenty of interest as a free agent this summer but opted to remain with the Knicks on a new three-year, $43-million contract, continuing his partnership with Tom Thibodeau, who also coached him in Chicago and Minnesota.
