Ben Standig and Kevin Sheehan on the state of the Commanders

Ron Rivera said he isn't making any changes to his coaching staff in the wake of the Washington Commanders' 40-20 embarassment at the hands of the Chicago Bears last Thursday night. Kevin Sheehan asks Ben Standing how a major change to either the head coach or the defensive coordinator would be received if forced by the new ownership group?

"Well, I think by the fan base it would be received warmly," Standig said. "Nothing personal to anybody involved, but some sort of change would go a long way to making people feel like there's nobody asleep at the wheel over there. Of course, the new owners just got here 10 minutes ago. It's not really much they could do up til this point... I personally, I just really don't see it being what people think it is.

"If this was the NBA, making some sort of a radical change like that could work pretty quickly because it's not that complicated to make a significant change with NBA style of play, personal [etc.] NFL is turning around a cruise ship on a dime or trying to do that. It's just not realistic. So I just don't think firing everybody or somebody today or tomorrow would make the change people think it would, but it at least would make the fans, I imagine, feel good."

Sheehan thinks it would make fans pleased, but it would reek a little bit like former owner Dan Snyder.

After going through the lack of anticipated coaching changes, Standing and Sheehan get into a conversation about the state of the Commanders and a "deep dive" that Rivera said he would be undertaking over the weekend and what type of personnel changes – to the secondary, the linebackers and offensive line – that may or may not happen and the changes to the scheme to the offense and defense.
