Washington football family, the Caveman needs your help.
Mike Sellers was one of the biggest fan favorites in DC in the late-90s and 2000s, unheralded as a fullback for the Redskins but one of those glue guys that everyone rooted for.
Unfortunately, Sellers, who is now a running backs coach in the high school ranks down in the Tampa area, has spent the last few months battling heart issues, up to nine treatments so far with two more to come – and that has had an enormous financial impact on his family.
Sellers and BMitch played together in DC at the end of Brian’s tenure and start of Sellers’, and JP Finlay has long been a fan of his contributions – and the guys opened up their show discussing Sellers situation after JP and Brian both Tweeted a link to Sellers’ family’s GoFundMe to help support them in this tough time.
“It’s a tough thing to see, and I was talking to some of the guys, who are coming together to try to do something,” Brian said. “The team is also working on stuff I think, and this is a situation where I understand how people look at athletes, but we all don’t make millions of dollars. Whenever someone is in need, with this team, people are coming together galvanizing to help each other out. The ask is not major; if you can, please do so, and if not, prayers, but we have a brother who is hurting. If you can do something, please do.”
Brian’s daughter was at IMG Academy with Sellers and noted his former teammate ‘took care of her,’ so he wants to be able to return the favor.
“I always say this, and I hope people understand: football players look like warriors, but we are human beings first, and deal with the same issues all of us do,” BMitch said.
Please help us help Brian and JP help Mike if you can, and take a look at the Sellers GoFundMe here.
