Lynnell Willingham is back this week for weekly Commanders Overreaction on the Hoffman Show, but unlike earlier this football season he didn't come with a handful of ‘overreactions’ but just one.
And this one Willingham was adamant about: "[Sam Howell] is a broken football player to me right now."
"I think everyone involved played a hand into his brokenness," Willingham told Hoffman, "Him, the coordinator, the offensive line."
Craig Hoffman and Willingham go on to have a healthy conversation and debate about what to make of Howell's benching against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and his season as a whole.
Willingham added that he hasn't seen Howell "make the layups" consistently during the seaon and "going for the home run ball" a lot has hurt the second-year man.
They also discuss whether or not we have seen enough to be able to successfully evaluate everybody else on the offense – from wide receiver Jahan Dotson to the offensive line – if Howell continues to struggle over th final three games of the 2023 season.
And Hoffman continues to ponder what exactly head coach Ron Rivera’s plan for Howell was supposed to accomplish this season.
