Jayden Daniels wasn’t born until 2000, but in 2025, he’ll be rocking threads reminiscent of where he wants to get the Commanders.
Washington unveiled some new alternate uniforms Wednesday morning and…well, they’re not new, because they’re mixing in the “Super Bowl era” threads!
Per the team, they will wear these unis for three home games: their Sunday Night Football games with Seattle (Week 9. Nov. 2) and Denver (Week 13, Nov. 30) and the Week 17 home finale against Dallas on Christmas Day – interestingly, representing two key opponents from the Super Bowl era, as they beat Dallas in the 1983 NFC Title Game and Denver in Super Bowl XXI.
"We are excited to celebrate Washington's rich history with these iconic, Super Bowl era uniforms this season," Commanders president Mark Clouse said in the team’s release. "Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership group acquired the team back in 2023, they've placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and pay homage to those that made the Burgundy & Gold what it is today."
The current regime has continually done things to honor the past history of the franchise despite the stickiness around the Redskins name and intellectual property, but hopefully, a day like today also helps put the perceived debacle that was 2/2/22 further in the rear-view mirror.
"These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise -- one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase," Clouse said.
"We look forward to bringing that nostalgic feeling back to fans, while incorporating a modern feel for our next generation of fans."
