Former Commanders executive Jason Friedman is suing the franchise for defamation after being accused of perjury in regards to his testimony to congress last year.
Friedman, formerly a ticket and sales executive, is seeking damages near $8 million, according to the Washington Post, claiming that the Commanders responded to his testimony to congress last year by "publicly calling him a liar, accusing him of committing the federal crime of perjury, and falsely implying that he was terminated as part of the team's sexual harassment scandal that was being widely reported."
Friedman testified last year in regards to allegations that the Commanders withheld ticket revenue that should have been shared with other NFL teams, per league rules. The team released a statement shortly after the testimony that there was "absolutely no withholding of ticket revenue at any time," and anyone who testified to the contrary "has committed perjury."
