The Washington Commanders are likely going to end up with a draft pick in the top half of the 2024 NFL Draft. They will have – barring something very strange happening – a new head coach and a new person in charge of making personnel decisions.
In a loaded quarterback draft, Kevin Sheehan asks if Washington fans have seen enough from second-year passer Sam Howell through 11 career NFL starts to name him the starting quarterback for next season.
"For me, even though I have become incredibly bullish and optimistic about Sam Howell's promise over the last three games, I would still right now in this moment, be a guy that would be very interested in what would be available to me in the upcoming NFL Draft," Sheehan said. "There are some quarterbacks that are exciting that have star potential that have, you know, kind of, that ability to be game changers at the position.
"So today, it's the way I feel. But if Sam puts together another four or five games, like the last three, I'll probably be there with some of you, which is let's build around this and give this a chance next year."
Of course, Sheehan acknowledges that who will be in charge and how the new regime feels about Howell is still a total unknown.
