Lions post photoshop trolling Commanders for coffee mug fail

Favored for the first time in almost two years, the Lions took care of business with a decisive win Sunday over Washington, routing the Commanders behind 256 yards and four touchdowns from quarterback Jared Goff, the latter his most since 2018.

Though Washington was able to mount a late charge with 27 second-half points, the game's outcome was never in doubt with Detroit's potent offense continuing to fire on all cylinders, bettering last week's 35-point outburst with 36 in Week 2.

The Lions, who have generated much enthusiasm from their compelling appearance on Hard Knocks this summer (arguably the series' breakout star, gelato-loving head coach Dan Campbell has gained something of a cult following), took a well-deserved victory lap on Twitter, trolling the Commanders with a viral photoshop that may be even more impressive than their tour de force performance Sunday at Ford Field.

For context, the Commanders were recently mocked for selling these team-branded coffee mugs in the stadium parking lot outside FedEx Field, displaying their logo within a silhouette of Washington state. The Commanders, of course, are headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia, a D.C. suburb some 2,500 miles from the Pacific Northwest. Symbolic of a comically inept organization plagued by endless scandal and disappointment, the Commanders can't even print their own merchandise without stepping in it.

It's a clever jab by the Lions' social media team, equal parts topical and embarrassing for a beleaguered franchise that exists as a punching bag for the rest of the league, a hapless laughing-stock constantly digging new holes for itself.
