Brian Monroe was on the team and friends with Brian Pata before his murder in 2006. An arrest of former teammate Reshaun Jones has been made in connection to the death.
Monroe first takes a look at The Cane’s upcoming season saying, “It is Alabama, they have dominated for 12 years. I want to see how The Canes react.”
When is comes to the arrest in connection to Pata, Monroe says, “It is bittersweet, you are in shock, it does give closure to the family.”
When it comes to a much circulated picture of Jones at a Pata memorial, Monroe says, “I would like to see him cropped out of the picture, if anything use his mugshot.”
When it comes to his former teammate who had dreds and wore a grill, Monroe says, “Pata is the total opposite of what you see.”
Monroe and his teammates have been in touch in the wake of recent events, he states, “We are a huge fraternity and we touch base with everybody.”
After all the recent events Monroe feels some relief saying, “Good to have a killer off the streets and the family can get some closure.”
Closing, Monroe puts it simple in saying, “Brian was a great individual.”
