Jimmy Butler knew early in Heat career that Miami was finally the place for him "Everyone just rocks with each other here and they're not afraid to butt heads and have the hard conversations. It's the place for me. My teammates allow me to be me. It's a blessing to be able to represent this organization," said Butler fresh off signing his extension with the franchise. Miami made sure to secure Butler's future after two selections to the All-NBA Third team in his first two seasons.
The extension comes with the front office adding Kyle Lowry as the team's point guard, a close friend of Butler's "It's great to have a genuine friend that you can have the hard conversations with. He's a Miami Heat guy too." In the deal Miami sent Goran Dragić to Toronto who Butler had a strong relationship with on and off the court "He taught me so much about Slovenia, his family and being a father. This relationship will continue to grow. It was one of the hardest FaceTimes to say we wouldn't be teammates anymore." Butler did add that he plans on posting Goran up the first time they play "I'm calling him up on a switch. I'm going to post him up. I'm going to run him over. I'm going to get an offensive foul. I'm going to sit the ball right next to him. It's like I love you. You're not on my team anymore."
