Baking with Grandma George every Thursday has been so much fun! I'm learning all the favorite family recipes from the one who makes them all. Her Sweet Rolls are famous and I needed to know how to make them, cinnamon rolls always seem so hard to make, but they're not. Your weekends are about to be delicious this summer.
Ingredients
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup warm water + 1 pkg yeast
1/2 cup margarine
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
3 1/4 cup flour
Icing
2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk (may need more or less milk depending on the thickness you like in your icing)
Melt the margarine in a pan and then add in milk, salt and sugar. Beat the egg and then add in. Add flour and mix in. Pull out dough and flour counter and knead until you get the dough to bounce back when you touch it with your finger.
Roll out dough and spread melted butter over the dough and add your cinnamon sugar mixture evenly across dough. Next, roll dough up and cut in like 1/2 inch thickness and place in a greased round baking pan, you want them touching. Then cover and let raise until theyre about double in size. You'll then bake them for 30 minutes at 350. Let cool a little and then add icing to the top!
