This was one of the recipes that MADE Liz's Kitchen so special! It was my Great Grandma's recipe and I shared it at the Erie Country Fair one year and people went nuts for it! They loved that it’s light and easy to make but the big sell was that it wasn’t mayonnaise-based and yet it still packed the flavor! This is perfect as a side dish or great on pulled pork or chicken! I really love this recipe because it is what sparked me to start looking at old family recipes and giving them a try! I hope you love this as much as I do!
Ingredients
1 egg
6 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 bag coleslaw mix (or head of cabbage)
Instructions
Mix dry ingredients with the egg. Then add liquid and bring to a boil to thicken, stirring occasionally.
Grate your cabbage or buy a bag of slaw and pour mixture over slaw mixture.
Mix together and let chill till serving. My recommendation is to let it sit in the fridge as long as you can. It’s always better the next day!
Serve as a side or use it as a condiment on your favorite grilled item between a bun!
