This is a recipe out of Grandma George's recipe box and it, like all the others, does not disappoint! I know I just did molasses cookies, but what can I say... I'm on a kick! This was a pretty easy recipe to make and if I do it again I would make them into muffins (just a fun note). Hope you enjoy :)
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 cup hot water
Instructions
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add the well beaten egg and then the molasses. Beat well.
Sift cake flour with baking soda, salt, and spices. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture beating until smooth.
Lastly, add the hot water and beat again until thoroughly blended.
Pour into well greased and floured 9x9 by 2 inch baking pan.
Bake for 45-55 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cut into squares and serve hot. Can be served with sauce!
