It was cold this week and I wanted something that felt warm... I also wanted something that wouldn't make a mess in the kitchen and take forever. Grandma George's cookbook strikes again - I found a recipe for a "quick bread" made out of Bisquick and I was intrigued (it was submitted by Mae. A Penna). What I love about this bread is it still has the elements of what you love about a biscuit but it holds up like a piece of bread. It's hard to describe but delicious to eat (especially with a little salted butter or jam).
Ingredients
Topping:
1 tbsp butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp Bisquick mix
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Quick Bread:
2 cups Bisqucik mix
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
Put Bisquick mix, sugar, milk, egg and oil in a large bowl and beat for 1 minute. Spread batter in pan and sprinkle with topping. Bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.
