My sister has me addicted to these things! She found a recipe from someone she follows on Instagram and has been making them weekly. I looked up different pickled onion recipes and found a few to combine, but honeslty any vinegar you pick will work. I decided to give it a go because I wanted something that could pep up most dishes and be healthy. I put these on my sandwich or over chicken, they go great on a burger or your hot dog. The pickling liquid mellows out the but of the red onions and the pickling liquid is pretty tasty too. They're awesome and easy to make!
Ingredients
1 medium red onion
1 cup white vinegar
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 cups water
1 clove of garlic, minced (if you're feeling spicy)
Instructions
Cut onion in half and then slice it thinly.
Combine white vinegar, salt, sugar, and water in a bowl and mix until the salt and sugar are dissolved.
Place onions in a container, I use a plastic 32 oz restaurant container and pour the liquid over the onions.
Let sit in the fridge overnight and you're ready to go.
