This cake is SUPER delicious and if you have a ton of apples from your trip to the orchard, this is the perfect recipe to help get rid of them! It's from one of Grandma George's cookbooks and these recipes have not missed. The recipe was submitted to the cookbook by Clara Paduano and it's a keeper. The base cake is my favorite part and can be used as your cake canvas to add anything as the topping!

Ingredients
1 c. sugar
butter (size of an egg)
1 egg
pinch salt
1 c. sour milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c. sliced apples
1/2 c. sugar
cinnamon

Instructions
Beat butter and sugar together; add egg and milk. Sift dry ingredients and mix well. Then spread in a 13 x9 pan. Mix the apples and sugar, spread over the batter, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake slowly at 350 for 45-50 minutes. ENJOY!
