This week on Spotlight on Maryland, Karen Barbour and Tammi Thomas of the Girl Scouts of central Maryland joined Ben Carpenter in Studio to talk about the importance of empowering women in today's society. Throughout recent history women have been shoved into roles and have been expected to exist within the confines of a societal box that has kept them secondary in a patriarchal system, but over the years many women have made it known that they have just as much to offer in society as men. During the interview, Karen and Tammi talk about the importance of women leadership and inspiring a generation of young girls.
The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland will be hosting its 44th annual Distinguished Women awards event on Thursday, April 18th at the Center Club in downtown Baltimore. Since its inception, the awards have honored Baltimore area women leaders for their professional achievements and their work in the community.
