Last week on Spotlight on Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Dina Gordon, Executive Director of the Arthritis Foundation, to talk about Pain Awareness Month activities including a "Living Well With Pain" event on Thursday, September 12th from 6-8 pm at the CareFirst Engagement Center in Baltimore and their upcoming Baltimore Jingle Bell Run on Saturday, December 14th at Rash Field. Nearly 60 million adults in the U.S. & hundreds of thousands of children have a form of arthritis. At least 1.3 million people live with rheumatoid arthritis, including Gina Crash. The Arthritis Foundation is nationwide with local staff in communities across the country. They offer expert information and resources for people with arthritis through their website arthritis.org, their Helpline 1-800-283-7800, educational webinars and podcasts, support groups and in-person events in the communities they serve.

Dina also talked about the Arthritis Foundation's Juvenile Arthritis, (JA), programs including JA Summer Camps that provide a safe and secure experience where they can play, be interactive and interact with other kids with JA and childhood rheumatic diseases.

Every year the Arthritis Foundation awards grants to many academic research institutions for projects showing the greatest promise of conquering arthritis. Arthritis Foundation-funded scientists were key to the discovery of biologics and other major interventions, changing the future for all forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, juvenile arthritis, and different forms of autoimmune inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis.
