This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Gloria Fajimolu, Director of Operations, Communications & Events at the Baltimore County Arts Guild to talk about their mission, the Catonsville Arts District and their new facility, "The Clubhouse."
Established in 2012, the Baltimore County Arts Guild is a nonprofit organization based in Catonsville, MD that is dedicated to fostering all aspects of the Arts to the citizens of Baltimore County. The artists and audiences who engage with the Baltimore County Arts Guild will understand the necessity of Art in everyday life and the changes it can make in the fabric of our communities.
From its inception, the Guild has actively supported local artists by providing affordable studio space in a collaborative environment and by promoting the work of artists through a rotating schedule of Gallery 1101 exhibits, Arts on Tour, public art installations and other programs.
The Catonsville Arts District is still the only state recognized Arts & Entertainment District in Baltimore County and that's something the Guild is incredibly proud of. In addition to expanding with the Catonsville Arts District, the Guild also expanded with a new facility in 2020, "The Clubhouse" in the space formerly occupied by the Women's Club, it now serves the region as a community-based arts and music center including concerts, art exhibits, visual arts classes and writing & poetry programs. They offer Irish Dance Classes on Mondays, Watercolor Classes every Tuesday and Open Mic Night the first Wednesday of every month. The Baltimore County Arts Guild Holiday Market at the Clubhouse is one of their seasonal community events. The Guild is looking for volunteers to build their volunteer corps at the Clubhouse.
