This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Mike Gosse, President & CEO, Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, (BISM), and Jessica Normington, BISM's Director of Development & Communications to talk about their mission and how they are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their Independence Training and Rehabilitation Programs with a Bull & Oyster Roast on Saturday, June 6th at BISM's Baltimore Campus from 4-7pm. Tickets are available online at BISM.org. Just click on "giving" and then "events." Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for kids 12 & under or adults who don't want alcohol, and they have tables of 8 for $300. Funds raised from the event will support the renovation of their training kitchens, ensuring future students have access to modern, safe and accessible learning spaces.

BISM is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the blind community by providing stable and rewarding career opportunities, innovative rehabilitation programs, economic and personal independence and appropriate resources for training and education. They opened their doors in 1908 with a small manufacturing facility in Baltimore City, employing blind individuals who made mops. Today, BISM is the largest employer of blind and low vision individuals in the state of Maryland. They manufacture military jackets, office supplies, janitorial supplies and provide independent living skills to blind individuals of all ages and stages of vision loss.
