Last week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Emily Breiter, Executive Director, Bromo Arts District and Amy Cavanaugh, Bromo Board Chair and Executive Director of Maryland Art Place, (MAP), to talk about the Bromo Arts District and Bromo Art Walk on September 11th from 5-9pm.
The Bromo Arts District was established in 2012 to encourage and support a thriving downtown arts neighborhood. It's one of four state-designated arts districts in Baltimore, named after the historic Bromo-Seltzer Tower. With a continually growing art scene, their 117-acre district is home to over 30 cultural organizations including galleries, music venues and theaters, and hundreds of artists and those employed through the arts. It's also home to Maryland Art Place, (MAP).
Maryland Art Place inspires, supports and encourages artistic expression through innovative programming, exhibitions, and educational opportunities while recognizing the powerful impact art can have on our community. MAP creates a dynamic environment for artists to engage the public by nurturing and promoting new ideas. MAP has served as a critical resource for contemporary art in the Mid-Atlantic since 1981.
MAP and Bromo are both state-supported organizations. MAP-coordinator of the State Arts Directory, which strengthens artist outreach initiatives.
