On this week's episode of Spotlight on Maryland, we spoke with Danista Hunte, Executive Director of Child First Authority. This amazing organization is dedicated to helping youth and strengthening families by providing high-quality community schools, after-school and summer learning programs that promote academic achievement, social and emotional well-being, and parent leadership. Child First Authority has after-school and summer programs in 14 schools across Baltimore. This summer has been busy for the kids so far, as summer programs began just a couple weeks ago. The students are hard at work but every week ends with a great field trip!

Volunteering is vital for Child First Authority. During the 2019-2020 school year, parents and caregivers invested 15,938 volunteer hours during the school day and after school by assisting in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, attending parent workshops, and performing administrative tasks.

The new school year will be here before you know it, and Child First Authority needs your help with their Back-To-School Uniform Fundraiser! Check out the entire interview below and help them achieve their fundraising goal HERE.
