Coming up this week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Shea Rice, Interim CEO of the Greater Baltimore Urban League, (GBUL), and French Jackson, GBUL Restaurant Accelerator Program, (RAP), Participant and Chef/Owner of French Toast Connection to talk about GBUL's mission and impact in the community. In the words of Shea Rice, "French represents the entrepreneurial spirit and community impact we are proud to uplift." French tells her story and passion for forging connections through food and shares her experience with GBUL and how they uplifted & inspired her as a proud, local business owner. Shea also revealed news about GBUL's new Board Chair Kevin Seawright.

Audacy partnered with the National Urban League in 2020 and locally Audacy Baltimore teamed up with GBUL to advance racial justice and equality in the communities we serve. Part of that partnership is quarterly interviews that highlight GBUL's impact in the community and a chance to shine the Spotlight On Maryland on voices like French Jackson, Shea Rice and her GBUL team.

Shea shared some highlights of GBUL's work in the community including hosting a Turkey Drive for Thanksgiving that impacted over 700 families with volunteers from a wide range of groups and community resources ranging from jobs, mental health, drug rehab and medical insurance. GBUL's Saturday Leadership Program, (SLP), is going strong with college tours, trips to the State Capitol and community service projects across the city. GBUL is currently working with Project Jumpstart on a 5th Construction Pre-Apprenticeship class where participants are getting hands on construction training, first aid, CPR and OSHA preparing them for careers in the building trades.
