This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash welcomed Tykia Warden, President & CEO of the Greater Baltimore Urban League, (GBUL), to talk about her powerful career leading national efforts in education, fundraising and advocacy that led her to the opportunity to join GBUL in December 2024 as President & CEO. Founded in 1924, GBUL is one of the local affiliates of the National Urban League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-ethnic, social service organization. Audacy partnered with the National Urban League in 2020 and locally, Audacy Baltimore teamed up with GBUL to advance racial justice and equality in the communities we serve.

Tykia talks about GBUL's mission of "empowering communities and changing lives" and what that looks like in practice. She also discussed their Workforce Development program and how GBUL helps residents become career ready. GBUL also supports youth and education enabling the next generation to thrive. They also address issues like Housing and Community Health in Baltimore. Tykia developed a unique framework called HHITT, (Housing, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Technology and Tourism), to help guide GBUL's future and next 100 years!
