This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Fred Hassell, Executive Director, Weekend Backpacks Baltimore and Cindy Saval, Event Chairperson, End Zone Eats: Weekend Backpacks' Tailgate, to talk about their history and mission to improve the lives of students affected by food insecurity in Baltimore, and their annual fundraising gala End Zone Eats: Weekend Backpacks' Tailgate on Monday, May 4th from 6-8pm at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville.
Tickets for End Zone Eats: Weekend Backpacks' Tailgate honoring the Ravens Foundation and 30 Years of the Baltimore Ravens are available now at weekendbackpacks.org. Early Bird ticket sales end March 31st, so get your tickets now at last year's price! Proceeds directly support Baltimore schoolchildren and their families.
All Baltimore City schoolchildren are provided a free breakfast and lunch on school days. However, those experiencing food insecurity face the weekend without the same access to food. Weekend Backpacks aims to bridge this gap by providing nutritious, child-friendly food to students and their families for the weekends.
