This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Jim Blake, Father of Organ Donor Tim Blake, Adam Falzarano, Media & Communications Coordinator at Infinite Legacy, and heart transplant recipient Phyllis Weissblum who joined via phone from her home in New Jersey.
Infinite Legacy, is a non-profit, (formerly the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland). It is the organ procurement organization for Maryland and the DC Metro Area. Phyllis & Jim's family volunteer with Infinite Legacy to help spread the word about organ donation and the need for more people to register.
Jim told the story of his son Tim Blake, a lifelong Catonsville resident who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41. Tim saved four lives by donating his kidneys, heart and liver after his death in 2019. Recently his family had the opportunity to meet Tim's heart recipient Phyllis and hear his heart beating in her chest. Phyllis suffered for many years from congenital heart defects and is now healthy and thriving, thanks to Tim's generosity. To watch the moving moment when the Blake family met Phyllis, watch the video at the bottom of the screen making sure to expand the video to full screen mode.
