This week on Spotlight on Maryland, Gina Crash caught up with Show Your Soft Side, (SYSS), Co-Founder Sande Riesett. SYSS is a public service campaign developed to combat the alarming incidence of animal abuse in communities across the country.
Sande talked about how they launched a new "Phoenix Fund" to help neglected and abused dogs in addition to the funds they gather for medical assistance for Baltimore's "Street Kitties." They also launched an Instagram Live Series "Softies on the Hot Seat" that gives kids a chance to grill their animal-loving role models.
Although their signature fundraiser "Pawject Runway" had to pivot to an online auction last year due to the pandemic, Show Your Soft Side continues to raise funds creatively with virtual fundraisers and events like their recent "Crab Cakes for a Cause" with Jimmy's Seafood.
