This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Charlie Gischlar, Deputy Director, Office of Communications at the Maryland Department of Transportation, (MDOT), State Highway Administration, (SHA), to give an update on the 17-mile Baltimore Beltway TSMO, (Transportation Systems Management & Operations) project, to talk about how the SHA prepares for the summer onslaught on the lower shore, Work Zone Safety Awareness, Anti-litter efforts and pedestrian/bicycle/motorcycle safety. Lifelong Maryland resident and childhood friend of Charlie "Gish" Gischlar, Spotlight On Maryland Producer Greg Carpenter chimed in as well!
The main goal of the TSMO project is to reduce congestion along the west and north sides of the Baltimore Beltway, from the 1-70 interchange to MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard). Design, Pre-Construction and Construction activities are underway and will be concurrent through 2027. Charlie helped provide updates and explained how the project will ultimately help commuters.
