This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Jennifer Dewees, President of the Maryland Center for Construction Education & Innovation, (MCCEI), to talk about their mission and upcoming Construction Career Days on September 16th in Baltimore at M & T Bank Stadium's Ravens Walk and on October 22nd at Keys Stadium in Frederick.
At MCCEI, their mission is to inspire, educate and connect Maryland's next generation to careers in the built environment. Construction Career Day is a chance for students to experience the construction industry firsthand instead of just hearing someone talk about it. They bring together contactors, trade organizations, apprenticeship programs, colleges and industry professionals so students can explore careers through hands-on activities and conversations. Their goal is to expose students to careers they may never have considered and help them understand there are many pathways to a successful future.
On September 16, more than 1,000 students from Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County will gather at M & T Bank Stadium's Ravens Walk for Baltimore Construction Career Day presented by BGE. On October 22, they'll welcome another 1,000 + students from Frederick, Washington and Carroll Counties to Construction Career Day at Keys Stadium, presented by the City of Frederick.
