This week on Spotlight on Maryland, Gina Crash spoke with Jeffery Kendrick, Executive Director, and Cereta Spencer, Director of Development and Community Engagement at the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc., (MCVET), about their Veterans Day Virtual Run and Walk November 11, 2021.
MCVET is the nation's premier program for helping homeless veterans heal and achieve independence, self-sufficiency and permanent housing. In its 26 years of service, this Baltimore-based non-profit has helped more than 11,000 male and female veterans from all branches of the military.
MCVET launched a drug and alcohol treatment program in February 2019 and has had 250 veterans enroll, with well over 75% successfully graduating from the program. In October 2020, MCVET launched a job training program in vocations like Culinary, Auto Repair, Information Technology and more.
MCVET's Veterans Day Virtual Run and Walk is coming up November 11, 2021, Event proceeds will help MCVET continue to provide Housing, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling, Education & Employment Services to help veterans rejoin their communities as productive citizens.
