This week on Spotlight on Maryland, Gina Crash spoke with Dr. Kevin Cullen, Director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, (UMGCCC), about the Maryland Half Marathon & 5K benefiting UMGCCC on Saturday, June 10th in Maple Lawn, Howard County.

The race returns to an in-person event this year after 3 years of virtual races. This year also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the event. Launched in 2009, the Maryland Half Marathon & 5K has raised more than $6 million for research at the cancer center. These funds have made it possible to develop more effective treatments, identify new ways to detect and diagnose cancer and advance the understanding of how cancer grows and spreads.
