On this week’s Spotlight On Maryland, we were joined in-studio by Sande Riesett, President and Co-Founder of Show Your Soft Side and NFL player Nick Boyle, who played Tight End with the Baltimore Ravens for eight seasons.
Show Your Soft Side started as a campaign to show young people that it’s wrong to hurt animals, using images of tough guys from our hometown teams cuddling with tiny kittens and puppies. This campaign against animal cruelty has grown into so much more, including medical support for animals in need, kids after-school and summer programming, and even a reward fund that pays up to $5000 for information leading to an arrest and/or charging someone with animal cruelty.
Sande and Nick have known each other through Show Your Soft Side for a while, and Nick’s story about getting involved and ending up with a couple pets through the program is something many of us can relate to.
