This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Sisters Circle Mentor Monica Johnson who talked about the positive experience with her mentee Ty. Sisters Circle cultivates one-to-one connections between middle and high school girls and a diverse circle of women within the Baltimore community. Sisters Circle understands the power of walking alongside youth during some of the most formative years of their lives.
For 23 years, Sisters Circle has incorporated best practices in the field of mentoring: connect early and foster one-to-one relationships over time, offer personalized, on-going support for their mentors to help the relationships endure difficult periods and emerge even stronger, provide opportunities to practice life skills, organize monthly events designed to expose participants to opportunities they may not otherwise have, and incorporate their youth voices in program design.
