This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Kim Callari, Executive Director of The Baltimore Station and their Outreach Coordinator James Hardy, to talk about their Stars, Stripes and Chow: Chili Edition coming up this Saturday, November 2nd at Oriole Park at Camden Yards from 1-4:30pm. The Baltimore Station turns lives around. They are an innovative, therapeutic residential treatment program supporting veterans who are overcoming obstacles to regain self-sufficiency. The Baltimore Station does not charge any program fees to participate. They will take a veteran from anywhere in the country who needs help. That's why fundraisers like Stars, Stripes and Chow: Chili Edition are so important. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the cookoff and features 12 teams competing!
Kim has been with the South Baltimore-based non-profit for 13 years and James, an Army veteran, came to the Baltimore Station in 2012 for help and after successfully completing the 2-year program, stayed to help other veterans. Inspired by each other, you can hear in the interview how well they work together at the Baltimore Station. James shared his powerful story and how the Baltimore Station has impacted his life and lives of other veterans.
