This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Anne Brown, Senior Director of Communications at the Baltimore Museum of Art, (BMA), to talk about their latest exhibitions this Spring including Turn Again to the Earth, Black Earth Rising and Heavy with History: Devin Allen and the Baltimore Uprising.

The Baltimore Museum of Art connects art to Baltimore and Baltimore to the world, embodying a commitment to artistic excellence and social equity in every decision from art presentation, interpretation, and collecting, to the composition of their Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers-creating a museum welcoming to all.

Now through January 2026, the BMA is embarking on an ambitious environmental mission, Turn Again to the Earth, that includes a series of exhibitions that capture the relationships between art and the environment across time and geography, the development of a sustainability strategic plan, and citywide eco-challenge led by the Museum.

Through "Heavy with History: Devin Allen and the Baltimore Uprising," on display now through June 22nd, people can witness the powerful photography of Baltimore-based artist Devin Allen, whose black-and-white images capture the raw emotion of of the Baltimore uprisings that followed Freddie Gray's death a decade ago in 2015.

Opening Sunday, May 18th at the BMA, is Black Earth Rising. Explore the splendor of nature through paintings, sculptures, films and works on paper by some of today's most celebrated artists of African diasporic, Latin American, and Native identity.
