Bond has been denied for the suspect in a deadly Western North Carolina shooting, after he was apprehended in another state. The Asheville Police Department responded to a shooting at the Hillcrest Apartments in July of 2024. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim 31 year old, Denzel McKnight later died after being taken to Mission Hospital. The suspect, 37 year old, Iken Michtreal Wallace fled North Carolina and was arrested in Chesapeake County, Virginia, earlier this year.
He's since been extradited back to Buncombe County on charges of murder and a weapons violation.
