An elderly man from the Low Country is accused of Human Trafficking a minor. Investigators with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division say a 71-year-old Hampton County man knowingly recruited an underage runaway in July for commercial sex acts and forced labor.
According to an arrest warrant, Clifton James Jr. provided a voluntary, video-recorded statement admitting he subjected the victim to at least two commercial sex acts in exchange for money and housing.
James Jr. was booked into the Hampton County Detention Center last week and is charged with human trafficking involving a victim younger than 18.
The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
