A teenager is dead after being shot at a bus stop, Wednesday morning in Gaffney. Authorities held a press conference several hours later. A suspect has not yet been identified. The shooting happened on West Rutledge Avenue in Gaffney just before 7AM.
The Cherokee County Coroner's Office says 17 year old, Jomilton Sentell Fair was pronounced dead at the scene. Fair was in his senior at Gaffney High School. Officials say a fight led to the shooting and more than a dozen students were on the bus and witnessed the incident.
The suspect reportedly got into a waiting vehicle and was driven away from the scene. SLED has been called into assist with the investigation.
Gaffney Mayor Lyman Dakwins III posted on social media " My heart is broken over the tragic news of the shooting this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family, loved ones, and everyone affected by this senseless violence. Our community is hurting, and this violence has to stop."

I am willing to do whatever is necessary and work with anyone committed to solutions. To our youth, violence is not the answer! No other details have been released at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing. No suspects have been identified as of this time.
