From lawman to inmate, a now disgraced former Upstate Sheriff has started to serve his federal prison sentence. Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright is now serving his sentence of just under 3 and a half years. Officials say,
Wright reported Tuesday, to the Federal prison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Wright's sentence came after he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, theft of federal funds and obtaining prescription pain pills by misrepresentation.
Wright's lawyers had requested that he be sent to a federal prison in Georgia. That request was denied and for the time being Wright is being housed at FCI Lewisburg. There is no early release or parole in the federal prison system.
