The city of Asheville hit again by gun violence, still reeling from last weekend's double homicide on Biltmore Avenue...
This past Friday, July 24, 2026, a teenager was robbed, shot, and wounded. Asheville Police say the victim is expected to recover. Investigators say the teen met with the suspect and, after the assault, was able to drive to South French Broad Avenue to get help.
Police are searching for 18 year-old Elijah William Poore. Warrants have been issued for his arrest.
Officers say there is no evidence linking this incident to last weekend's shooting on Biltmore Avenue, which left two people dead and seven others seriously injured.

That shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. on July 19, 2026. During a Friday, July 24, 2026 news conference, Interim Police Chief Jackie Stepp said investigators believe the Biltmore Ave. shooting was a direct act of retaliation for a July 5, 2026 shooting at the Maple Crest apartment complex.
19 year old Marqua Amryie Lamar Davis has been charged in connection with the July 5th shooting.

Davis is being held in the Buncombe County Detention Center. Several persons of interest have been identified in the Biltmore Avenue shooting, but no arrests have been made.
Stepp says public assistance remains vital to the investigation and is urging anyone with information to contact the Asheville Police Department at (828) 252-1110.
