They're smelly, and often break during storms...but their blossoms sure are beautiful! The Bradford Pear tree is not native to SC... and Clemson University says, directly contributes to one of the worst invasive plant species in the Southeast – the Callery pear.

On March 28, 2026 Clemson and the South Carolina Forestry Commission are enticing Upstate home owners with a "tree for a tree" offer.

The event will take place at Conestee park where "property owners can exchange up to five (5) Bradford Pear trees for an equal number of FREE, healthy, native, young replacement trees."

GREENVILLE - Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Conestee Park, 840 Mauldin Rd.

Supplies are limited and registration is required. Trees are available first-come first-served while supplies last! Other participation criteria cand be found HERE.
