The trial got underway Monday, for an Upstate woman accused of killing four of her family members over a decade ago. Amy Vilardi and her husband Ross are accused of killing Amy's mother, grandmother and two others on Halloween night in 2015.

The victims were found dead after being stabbed and shot. Prosecutors say money was the motive for the murders, as the Vilardis were struggling financially.

The couple wasn't arrested for the murders until 2023. Amy Vilardi's attorney argued that the arrest took 8 years because of a lack of evidence.

She also claimed that the arrest was made because a TV show filmed an episode about the case and that the Anderson County Sheriff's Office wanted to make it look good by having an arrest made at the end of the show.

Amy and Ross Vilardi have been granted separate trials. The trial for Amy Vilardi continues.
