An Upstate man will spend the next three decades in prison after being convicted of murder. Court records show that Jared Tierce pleaded guilty, Monday for his role in the murder.
The charges came after a 2023 incident in which the body of Phillip Hughey was found wrapped in a rug in Anderson County. Hughey had been reported missing out of the Williamston area.
Officials say Tierce and another suspect Jacob Barber killed the victim. Tierce put a ratchet strap around the victim's neck, while Barber stabbed him multiple times.
Tierce has been sentenced to 33 years in prison. Barber has not been sentenced, as of this time.
