Black Friday shopping has become an American staple and stores started opening so early for the deals that most retailers have begun their sales on Thanksgiving Day.
Not this year, though.
Both gigantic retailers, Walmart and Sam's Club, have announced that all of its store locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th as a way to thank their employees for all their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stores will operate normally on November 25th, the day before the holiday, but no word yet on the hours of operation for Black Friday.
To show their appreciation for their employees and help them during the pandemic, both Walmart and Sam's Club will give their staff another round of cash bonuses.
Full-time employees are set to receive $300 and part-time associates will be given $150. In total, the bonuses add up to $428 million!
To be eligible for the bonus, associates need to be employed by July 31st and all company employees will receive the check on August 20th.
This is the third round of bonuses for the employees to help ease their financial burden and thank them for working so diligently during the quarantine.
