CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The family of a little girl hit by a foul ball off the bat of a former Chicago Cub has reached a settlement.

The settlement between the girl’s family and the Houston Astros came more than two years after the child was struck in the head by a foul ball hit by Albert Almora Jr. at an estimated 100 miles an hour.

An attorney for the now 4-year-old’s family said on Friday the matter has been resolved and they’re seeking court approval.

Back in 2019, Almora, a father of two, said the accident put things into perspective.

“I know the family wants complete privacy and obviously we’re gonna respect that. When they’re ready, if they’re ready, I’ll do whatever I can to put a smile on the little girl’s face,” Almora said.

The family attorney said the girl is doing well after fracturing her skull and has been seizure free for 22 months thanks to medication.

The incident reignited a discussion in the league about protective netting.
