CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The need for a shovel or snow blower this morning certainly depends on where you are in the Chicago area.

The winter storm that arrived late yesterday afternoon and stuck around until the morning hours resulted in highly varying amounts of snowfall.
Far northern Illinois experienced the brunt of it, while the city and surrounding suburbs saw mostly rain and very little snow.

Per the National Weather Service, the latest snow totals:

O’Hare Airport: 1.2 inches

Midway Airport: 0.5 inch

Bull Valley: 9.6 inches

Rockford: 7.3 inches

Winnebago: 6.2 inches

Mundelein: 6 inches

Woodstock: 5.7 inches

Lakewood: 5.5 inches

Freeport: 5.5 inches

Marengo: 5.3 inches

Algonquin: 5 inches

Antioch: 5 inches

Roscoe: 4 inches

Moline: 2.5 inches

A few snow showers/freezing rain will linger this morning but won’t accumulate, AccuWeather says. The cold air however will stick around for the weekend and early next week. Temperatures are expected to not get out of the 30s until Wednesday.

Another burst of snow is also possible tomorrow, with AccuWeather calling for a coating, to as much as an inch or two to fall.
