CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is making some changes for runners who are pregnant or experiencing postpartum.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon updated its policy to allow runners who are pregnant, recently pregnant or postpartum to cancel and defer their registration and fee for up to three years. Private lactation spaces will be offered at their events moving forward as well.

Registered participants requesting a cancellation under this policy must email a completed Physician Authorization Form to office@chicagomarathon.com by 11:59 p.m. (Central Time) on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

The Physician Authorization Form must be completed by a physician, registered midwife or other medical professional. Marathon officials said they may waive this requirement under certain circumstances such as miscarriage.
