(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police Superintendent Larry Snelling agrees with the Civilian Office of Police Accountability that four tactical officers accused of stealing drugs and money should be fired.

Allegations that attracted the attention of the FBI. COPA found a troubling pattern of misconduct.

The accusations against officers Daniel Fair, Jeffery Morrow, Kevin Taylor and Rupert Collins, according to COPA, are “substantial and irrefutable.” In some instances, there is body camera video.

The Sun Times reports, Police Supt. Larry Snelling told COPA Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten he’s moving to fire them.

The investigation started in 2021 after a woman filed a complaint. Two of the officers, according to COPA, took a gun from her and let her go. She later told the Sun Times she knew there “was some B.S. going on.”

In another case, a gun was seized from a man wanted for a murder in Kentucky. He, too, was let go, according to COPA, without a check for warrants.

The guns were inventoried, COPA says, but the circumstances were changed by the officers.

There’s an alleged incident during which drugs and money were seized and not inventoried and GPS tracking showed that officers immediately went to a block where one lives.

An attorney representing the officers, Tim Grace, said “They committed no crimes.”
