(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A suburban man who admitted to running an illegal, multi-million-dollar sports gambling ring has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.
Vincent Delgiudice of Orland Park — known by the nickname "Uncle Mick" — pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy and gambling charges.
Prosecutors say Delgiudice, 58, was behind a website that gamblers used to illegally place wagers on professional and collegiate sporting events. He laundered the profits in a variety of ways, authorities said, including making cash investments in businesses and having gamblers directly pay his personal expenses.
The Delgiudice enterprise ran from 2016 to 2019, and prosecutors say Casey Urlacher, the brother of Bears great Brian Urlacher, was one of his agents.
Casey Urlacher received a pardon from President Trump.
The judge has ordered Delgiudice to pay $3.5 million in forfeiture.
