Details of the apparent ICE enforcement surge in Chicago are starting to coming into focus, and some of them involve a facility in the western suburbs.

Workers have already boarded up windows at the ICE processing center in Broadview, apparently in preparation for protests expected outside when agents launch their operation as soon as this weekend.

Mayor Katrina Thompson has sent a notice to people living here advising them that she’s been told the Broadview facility will be the primary location where detainees will be processed, seven days a week, for 45 consecutive days.

The ICE center is located in a commercial area of Broadview on a dead-end street, and the mayor says the village expects protests around the facility of the kinds we saw in Los Angeles back in June.

Workers at a molding company just two doors away from the facility confirm a representative from the village reached out to them yesterday, but shared no other details about what authorities were planning to protect businesses or allow access to the area.

The mayor says she expects demonstrations could go on over the next 60 days.
